Montgomery recently retired as vice president at Altria Client Services. During her 20-year career at Altria, she spent more than ten years on the law department’s leadership team and led a number of law department practice groups.

Prior to joining Altria, Montgomery was an associate at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City, which she joined after a judicial clerkship with a United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of California.

Montgomery received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, majoring in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. She then worked for three years as a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems before leaving to attend Yale Law School from which she received her J.D. degree.

In addition to serving as treasurer for the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education, Montgomery is also a member of several non-profit boards including the TRACE Foundation, the Doorways, the Richmond Forum and Collegiate School.

Montgomery is an adjunct law professor at University of Richmond Law School and is actively involved in her church.
