Initiative Update:

Shared Service Center Rolls Out Two New Processes

Procure-to-Pay Big things are happening at the Shared Services Center. The first is the transition of the end-to-end procure-to-pay function (from procurement through payment) from the colleges and System Office to the Shared Services Center (SSC) to realize economies of scale, efficiencies, and buying power. The pilot phase rolled out on March 7, 2017, with four colleges: Central Virginia, Paul D. Camp, Thomas Nelson and Virginia Western. Although employee time and absence reporting (TLAM) was the very first process to roll out at the SSC last summer, procure-to-pay is really the first full process to be implemented. It represents approximately 60% of the work designated at this point for the SSC to handle.

Did You Know?

For employees, the new
 Travel & Expense Reimbursement process
at the Shared Services Center means:

• No more copying receipts
(you can take a picture of them with your phone!)
• No more paper travel vouchers!
• You’ll get paid faster!

Dominion Invests Training Workers for Emerging Solar/Renewables Industries

The creation and expansion of training programs for those seeking careers in renewable energy is now possible at seven VCCS colleges, thanks to a recent $150,000 grant from The Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Virginia Power. The grant money will fund new energy labs and equipment allowing the colleges — John Tyler, Northern Virginia, Tidewater, Virginia Highlands, Mountain Empire, Southside Virginia and Central Virginia – to offer solar panel technician training and other renewable energy courses.
