aida-picAida Pacheco, project manager for the Virginia Community College System, has received a 2016 Impacto Latino Award presented by the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (VAHCC) to people and companies committed to helping shape Virginia’s growing Hispanic community.  Aida was one of 10 individuals statewide to receive the award during the 2016 VAHCC Business Conference Luncheon on October 13, 2016, at The Jefferson Hotel.

A 1977 Princeton University graduate and 27-year resident of Hanover County, Aida serves as the Chair of the Virginia Latino Advisory Board (VLAB), appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe. She is a member of the VLAB’s Education and Workforce Development Committee, which works with K-12 systems, higher education, and workforce development agencies in all regions of the Commonwealth to promote greater educational attainment and equity, and stronger pathways to economic opportunity.

As one of six Latinos working in the Governor’s Office in 2006, Aida assisted the Senior Advisor to the Governor for Workforce to reform the Commonwealth’s Workforce Development System. Currently, as a Program Manager for the Virginia Community College System, Workforce Development Services, Aida manages various grant initiatives and provides strategic leadership and policy direction to program sites. She also works with various groups and organizations toward the development of policies that address the needs of sub-populations who face multiple challenges to employment.

She is also a board member of the Association of Latino Princeton Alumni (ALPA), Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and American Civil Liberties Union of VA. Other volunteer endeavors are focused on civic engagement and voter registration. Congratulations to Aida.'

Amanda Christopher

Amanda Christopher is a graduate of Hollins University and Virginia Commonwealth University. A native of the DC metro area, Amanda worked in public relations for the American Red Cross before joining the Virginia Community College System as the Workforce Communications Coordinator.
