Mapquest says the distance from Hollywood, CA to Cedar Bluff, VA is 2,362 miles, but this month, the gap will seem a bit smaller with a collection of items from the golden era of movies on public view at Southwest Virginia Community College.

As part of SWCC’s Festival of the Arts, and exhibit of film memorabilia will be on display in the Ellen von Dehsen Elmes Gallery of the SWCC King Community Center through April 30.

Among other curiosities, visitors will be able to see Clint Eastwood’s autographed helmet from “Kelly’s Heroes,” Ray Bolger’s shoes from “The Wizard of Oz,” plus Joan Crawford’s Christmas apron, and a shirt worn by Rock Hudson.

The items are on loan from Robert Weisfeld, a lifelong Hollywood memorabilia collector who once operated the Star Museum in Abingdon. The collection offers one-of-a-kind short lived apparel or personal belongings owned or utilized by the famous, including autographs, correspondence, estate artifacts, as well as uncommon mass marketed items, such as a rare Joan Crawford Halloween mask (left).
