The Virginia Community College System Office of Workforce Development won the highest technology award in the Commonwealth at the Awards Ceremony at COVITS held last week at the Hilton Short Pump in Richmond Virginia. This achievement celebrated the successful implementation of the Workforce Enterprise System (WES), the online registration tool for courses that lead to workforce credentials at Virginia’s 23 community colleges.

“It is with great honor that the Virginia Community College System’s Workforce Enterprise System (WES) has been selected to receive the 2016 Governor’s Technology Award. This groundbreaking tool has already helped tens of thousands of Virginians to intuitively search and register for the workforce training they need to gain the skills and credentials that will improve their lives, enrich the quality of talent sought by business, and improve the economic health of Virginia,” said Dr. Herndon, Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development.

Thanks to WES, individuals can easily sign up for the 124 different community college training programs under The New Economy Workforce Industry Credentials Grant program, geared toward providing workforce credentials at one-third of their former cost
